When my tiny girl was born, I remember that I got so many baby blankets that I did not know what to do with them.

I ended up giving many of them to the local pregnancy center because I had no way of keeping them all. There could have been at least twenty five of them, and I’m not sure anyone that wishes that many. I might have used 10 of them, and the rest I had kept were never employed by anybody. My daughter was long, and inside half a year I had to buy longer blankets.

I had to get bigger baby blankets so that when she kicked the blankets would still stay on her, as least almost all of the time. I never wished to use too a lot of them either, as her room was always terribly warm.

They were often used to lie on the floor, or for when we went on walks together. Another problem was that many of the baby blankets that I got were made for winter. She was born in December, so that seemed sensible, but by the time spring rolled around they were just too hot for her to use. I had some thin ones, but they were so little they were just about valueless. I assume everybody likes to buy baby blankets as gifts, and that could be because they are so simple. You simply could find that you are overpowered with the amount of them you get when you’re expecting. Once in a while she sees it and wants to play with it, but I do not permit her to do so.

She’s got a few of the other baby blankets from when she was a child, but this one is mine to save forever. It makes me think about how frail she is, though she is now 5 years old. We all start out tiny, and we all should be treated with the love we got when we first arrived.
